Born and raised in Texas until his family moved to Colorado to work the oil and gas industry in 1991 Quentin (better known as “Q”) found a love for the hunting and outdoor industry early in life. Through hunting expeditions with his Dad and family friends Q grew up with the dream of making a career out of the hunting industry and in early 2000 did that very thing. Throughout his high school career Q could be found in the mountains every weekend watching, learning, and studying wildlife behaviors and patterns. This along for his love of working with people soon found him dreaming up ways to create opportunities for people such as himself to enjoy the outdoors.
Quentin’s love and passion for Agriculture was as strong as his love for the outdoors. His involvement with the FFA and his collegiate career provided him many opportunities within both industries and after one year attending Northeastern Junior College, Quentin was elected to serve the State of Colorado as the State Vice President for the FFA Organization, giving him the opportunity to share both his love for the outdoors and agriculture to students from around the state. Quentin continued his college education at Panhandle State University and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business and minors in Agronomy and Animals Science.
While attending an International Expo for hunting and fishing expeditions in 2001, Quentin saw the potential opportunity to cease his spot within the hunting industry. Centered on the idea of bringing Texas to Colorado, QRS Outdoor Specialties was created offering hunting expeditions for hogs, rams, yak and buffalo right out the back doors of one of Texas’ largest demographical cliental areas from 2001-2008. Although only selling four hunts his first year, Q was not to be beat and directly after marketing his opportunities to sportsman from around the Denver area at just one International Sportsman’s Expo, QRS Outdoor Specialties booked 250 hunts for the following season and continued through 2008.
While great success was found in the market of hog hunts and the like, QRS made the leap into the big game industry in 2004 when Q secured a hunting season on the Rocky Mountain Ranch in Walden, Colorado. QRS Outdoor Specialties provided Western Big Game hunts for Mule Deer, Rocky Mountain Elk, Black Bear, and Shiras Moose to clients on this ranch for 15 years closing its doors on the property in 2017 following an opportunity to move the operation closer to his home in Meeker, Colorado.
In 2009, Quentin was asked by the Owner of the Rocky Mountain Ranch if there would be interest in adding additional property to QRS Outdoor Specialties program and Q found himself starting a new operation in Central Wyoming on what has become one of his most treasured properties to date, The Split Rock Ranch. Depicted as the “American Serengeti” because of its abundance of wildlife, the property added Trophy Class Antelope, Mule Deer, Whitetail, Rocky Mountain Elk, and Mountain Lions to its offerings.
By 2015 after the conclusion of a Mountain Lion hunt for the land owner of the R Lazy J Ranch in Meeker, Colorado, Q was asked to lease the ranch located only minutes from their home in which he had been working diligently to find for some time. The R Lazy J Ranch and additional ground in one of Colorado’s most sought after Mule Deer areas in the state has become a staple property in QRS Outdoor Specialties program and has afforded him the opportunity to create those Western Adventures right out his back door.
Today, Quentin, his beautiful wife Jordi, and their son Teagan reside in Meeker, Colorado.
