Photo Safaris at the Historic Split Rock Ranch
If you’re looking for authentic western themed photo opportunities, then look no further than QRS Outdoor Specialties. The Split Rock Ranch offers the most diverse opportunities a photographer could ever want. We have amazing landscapes, sunsets that will take your breath away, historical buildings from the Pony Express, the Mormon, California and Oregon trails, authentic cattle drives, an abundance of wildlife, and the largest free-range wild horse herd located in Wyoming. These are simply a smattering of the photography opportunities that await you.
Our abundance of wildlife is extraordinary; we feature Elk, Mule Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Whitetail Deer, a variety of small game, birds of prey including eagles, hawks, owls and waterfowl, sand hill cranes and Wyoming’s most popular, the Sage Grouse!
Our photo safaris are hosted at the historic Split Rock Ranch and meals are included. We are happy to provide you with your own guide, or feel free to engage in this exploration in a do-it-yourself style environment.
Approximately 58 miles north to south and 14 miles wide, the historic Split Rock Ranch has very diverse terrain ranging from scenic timbered mountains and canyons to river bottom along the Sweetwater River. This ranch also includes rolling open grasslands, canyons and high rock ridges and the best food plot in the west with 620 acres of irrigated alfalfa meadows.
Brimming with endless western scenery and wildlife, and appropriately called the “American Serengeti,” the Split Rock Ranch’s elevations range from 6,700 feet along the river to over 9,200 feet on Whiskey Peak, which is part of the Green Mountain Range.
